Wind Beneath My Wings

Hello bloggers,

Thanks for stopping in today On December 29 I posted a card that featured a different type of fold. Click here to view that post. I mentioned that I would be sharing the dimensions and some photos explaining how this card is made. Well today is the day.

Here is a pic of the card totally assembled

Below is a diagram of the size, cuts and scores for the card base
  • For the score lines on the left side -  you will only score between the 2 cut lines.first score line -score from the top cut line to the bottom cut line. The next score line is 1 1/4" from the first score line, again scoring just between the cut lines.
  • For the score lines on the right side of the card - here you will only score between the top (or bottom of card) and the end of cut line. The next cut line score 1 1/4" from the first cut line on the right side, both top and bottom.

I have marked the score lines that should be a valley (V) or a mountain (M) fold.
(Not included) Next I measured the inside areas and layered coordinating papers and then I added my stamped image and verse. When folded, this will fit in a 5"X 7" envelope.
BTW - this card will stand on its own.

I hope you try this out. It's easy to make this card base and it is so unique.
It has become one of my fav's.

Here's another view of today's card that I made using this easy cut and fold.

Let me share a couple more views.

This one shows the card laid out flat. I put it on a piece of red CS so the card base wouldn't fade into the background. Not crazy with the red but it is what it is. It's just for the display here anyway. LOL

Below is the first view (same as above) of the card, standing upon its own.

Well I hope you try this card shape out. It is a fun card.

    Sweet Friend

    Welcome back

I want to show you the other Art Gone Wild Catherine Scanlon stamp that I used in my class last Saturday.
     This stamp is called Daisies.

This stamp is approximately 7" X 4" (again another rather large image)
    but it's so lovely!!!

Let me show you what I came up with for an A2 card using this stamp.

    Here is the card closed

Here is the inside of the card.

I just cut that sprig that was on the left side of the image and added it to the inside.
What a perfect match to the card front!!

    Elegant Flower Frame

    Hello bloggers
I  had a class this past Saturday and used 2 large Catherine Scanlon images from Art Gone Wild.
(I love her images.) This image is about 4"X 6" and needs to be used on a 5"X 7" card. Some of my students are not big fans of 5"X 7" cards so I put on my thinking cap to see how we could still use this gorgeous image.

Today I will be sharing with you 2 cards using the same image.
I can't wait to show you how I used that large image to work on a 4.25"X 5.5" card.

First let me share the stamp image with you,
it is called Elegant Flower Frame.
    I just love this stamp.

Here is the first card we did in class, notice I used the stamp in the usual way
and as you see it takes up most of the 5"X 7" card front.

The class was a technique class using Pan Pastels as the coloring medium. So the students were exposed to the  Pan Pastels as a coloring medium.
They are so rich and so smooth. Easy to blend. And a little goes a long way!!
The students fell in love with Pan Pastels.

Let me move on to the  2nd card we made, still using this same stamp,
but now the card size is an A2 card (4.25"X 5.5") The students were so excited to use the larger stamp and still  be able to use it on an A-2 size card.

Here is the A2 card closed.

And here is the inside of the card

In looking at the whole stamp image, I saw that label area and decided that was where I was going to be able to cut the image apart, making two areas that compliment each other. By cutting at the label area, I would be keeping most of image intact to use on the card front and the label part would go on the inside of the card.

Note that on the smaller card, those large flowers still fit perfectly on the front, I used softer colors that really are not showing up very well (sorry).

For those of you who pass up on larger stamps. look at them with a closer eye and you may find that you can still use the stamp, by just cutting the stamped image apart and using the parts in different areas of the card.

    Love

    Hi everyone,

Has everyone got into the swing of back to work or back to your old routine yet. I guess it might take a few days to get back in that groove.

Today I took my cat Buddie to the vet to have his teeth cleaned and some extractions. Talk about extractions, they removed 12 teeth. Poor guy, he is miserable. (So am I ) I feel so bad for him. Hopefully he will be more like his ole self tomorrow.  I will keep you posted as to his progress.

Today is the 1st Tuesday of the month and it's my turn to post over at Craft-Dee BowZ. The theme is Love and since my little Buddie is not feeling up to par, I decided to use this cute image of the little girl and her cat.

I decided to make a 3 loop bow. I was aiming for a bow that would not be too overwhelming I think this looks OK

I decided on an easel card cause they are so fun to make and send (and get too). I love these cards, no measuring  to speak of, and they look great opened and I think a bow works well with these card styles.

You know with the Craft-Dee BowZ tool you can make any sized  bow, from 1' to 4 1/2" these sizes are perfect for cards, scrapbook pages and even wrapped gifts.  You can order yours here.

Don't forget to enter a card or project in the CDB monthly challenge. The January sponsor is Cute As A Button and the prize for the challenge winner is two digi images. Love their images
